For 98 years, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City has been the premier parade in the US, and I’ve had the privilege of being a part of the official photography staff since 2013. My first three years were spent shooting on the streets between 72nd street and Radio City Music Hall. Since 2016, I’ve been positioned on the 5th-floor roof directly across the street from Macy’s to capture the large group shots of the bands and cheer teams with the building in the background. In the 11 years I’ve been shooting the parade, we’ve never had rain. Unfortunately, this year it rained the entire time and we had to cover all of our gear with heavy rain protection. Regardless of the rain, its still the best seat in the house.
I look forward to shooting the parade again next year.
