America’s 250th Ohio Transportation Celebration — Dennison, Ohio

In April 2026, Lerro Photography / Aviation Photo Shoots was contracted to photograph the aviation portion of America’s 250th Ohio Transportation Celebration in Dennison, Ohio. The overall event featured flyovers by vintage aircraft, a vintage car show, and trains from the Ohio Central Railroad.

For the aviation photography assignment, I was scheduled to fly aboard the C-47 Placid Lassie and photograph the other aircraft in flight after their flyovers. Although flyovers were planned for both Saturday and Sunday, low cloud cover on Saturday prevented all aircraft except the C-47 from flying. We still went up in Placid Lassie and performed several flyovers over Dennison.

On Sunday, conditions improved, and we departed on schedule. Our C-47 and a Beechcraft C-45 Expeditor completed their flyovers before heading to a designated photo area, where the remaining aircraft joined us for air-to-air photography. In all, we photographed a Beechcraft C-45 Expeditor, four Beechcraft T-34 Mentors, a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17, and an Aero L-39 Albatros.

This assignment provided a unique opportunity to document a historic transportation celebration from the air, combining vintage aviation, railroad heritage, and classic automobiles as part of Ohio’s contribution to America’s 250th anniversary. I’d like to thank all of the people who worked countless hours to make America’s 250th Ohio Transportation Celebration a huge success.
