Thomas Point Lighthouse with the USLHS

In May of 2024, I was invited by Jeremy D’Entremont of the US Lighthouse Society to take a boat ride out to Thomas Point Lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay. During our visit, the manager of Thomas Point Lighthouse, John Potvin, gave us a tour and even allowed us to climb to the top of the tower. While I have photographed the lighthouse’s exterior several times recently, I haven’t been inside Thomas Point since 2014, so it was nice to go inside again.

We were supposed to go the day before, but bad weather delayed our trip. Good things come to those who wait, though, because the sunset shots we got were spectacular. Our boat captain positioned us in the perfect spot so we could capture the lighthouse with the red sky as the sunset.

I want to thank Jeremy and John for the invite to the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse. John expressed interest in having us return for a lighthouse keeper reenactment photo shoot, which I will work on in the future.
